GREENER PASTURES
by melissa niu
We seem to think,
That in a wink,
We deserve what others have
We seem to find
That in our mind
We’re not grateful for what we have
We climb the fence
And over hence
Their skies are often grander
Their grass is greener
Houses cleaner
And our lives seem much blander.
But don’t be mistaken
Lets now awaken
To what we never see
The person yonder
Might also be fonder
Of someone else’s tree.
Turn back around
Put your feet on your ground
Remove envy and I guarantee
You’ll probably find
More peace of mind,
You’ll find joy, not jealousy.
